⭐ Mercy Baguma : Black Lives Matter here too...
Last month, Mercy Baguma, was found lifeless in her flat next to her starving baby. This young Ugandan woman lost her job following the expiry of her ‘right-to-work’ in the UK.
Living in Scotland, Mercy was described an ‘asylum seeker’ in many articles but as a rainbow by friends who remember her smile.
We are sorry this tragedy occurred but unfortunately it reflects the reality of many of our sisters and brothers who have the ‘wrong colour’ on their passport.
After all, she came to the UK to pursue her dreams like many others, like our parents or grand parents generations before us…
We want to honour her life which was taken away too soon and brutally as a result of ‘structural and institutional’ racism. Our thoughts and prayers go to her family and especially her little 1-year old baby boy Govan.
Tell your loved ones that you love and care about them as our community needs more love and solidarity than hate and jealousy.
