The Book Corner #7 : Assata Shakur
Today, our new book in the corner is : Assata, An Autobiography by Assata Shakur.
We love this one because it is a good reminder that even we celebrate Juneteenth today nothing much as really changed since 1865… Cotton and sugar cane fields became profitable prisons listed on Wall Street markets and the overseers of yesterday now wear a uniform and blue badge…
Assata gives a sincere insight and analysis on the brutality of institutionalised racism which put Black communities in extreme poverty and poor living conditions which led to her activism. A brilliant example of how powerful Black women are, we hope she is keeping well in Cuba ! 🙌🏿
Yes, she was also Tupac’s godmother.
