⭐ Toni Morrison : The Pieces I Am ~ 1 year already !
It has already been a full year since Chloe Ardelia Wofford Morrison internationally known as Toni Morrison transitioned to the ancestors on 5 August 2019.
Her legacy continues to influence so many of us but as an author, Toni Morrison was actually discovered quite late in her life.
She had been teaching and editing other people’s work for years before finally writing her own books. Famous activist and professor Angela Davis is one of the lucky author’s whose work was edited by the great Toni herself.
Her books, which have now become classics for most of them, continue teach us in depth about the painful Black experience on the other side of the Atlantic.
A beautiful documentary entitled “Toni Morrison : The Pieces I Am” was released last year and retraces her life. Read more here.
In 1993, she was awarded the Literature Nobel Prize making her the first Black woman to be honoured in that category for her lifetime achievements.
We naturally wanted to pay her tribute in this month’s newsletter.
Thank you for everything Aunty Toni !
Notable books: Sula, Beloved, Song of Solomon
