Who was Akyaaba Addai-Sebo ?

Akyaaba Addai-Sebo arrived in London in 1984 from Ghana escaping political persecution.

He got involved in political activism with various organisations and particularly with the Greater London Council.

He coordinated the 1st BHM in 1987 to celebrate the African Jubilee Year of Marcus Garvey’s birthday.

Why do we need it ?

Because there are always 2 sides to a story and it happens that we only know one. Hidden facts lead to distorted truth…

We are miseducated, misinformed and need more grounding as a community.

BHM is an initiative which aspires to bridge that gap by encouraging self-education and offering many cultural activities to learn about OUR history ourselves.
